We provide a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment, to form friendships, volunteerism and to encourage our junior members to enjoy tennis.

INDIVIDUAL LESSONS

All coaching staff are available for individual lessons.

The coaches will customise a training plan for the individual helping to improve the technique and performance of their game. The coaches will help develop co-ordination and develop drills that will enhance fitness and an all round great sportsperson.

Tennis is one of the most technical sports you can play, there’s great benefit in taking individual lessons and improving your game in a focused one on one environment.

Fees range from £25 – £32 an hour

MONTHLY MATCH PLAY

We run 2 Match Play sessions a month

Orange / Green & Full ball on the 2nd Friday of the month Red Match Play runs on the 3rd Friday of the month

The fee is £5 per player

All results are logged with the LTA and the results count towards the individual player’s ranking

MINI TENNIS : RALLY AWARDS

Certificates are awarded to the players on a termly basis.

All Rally Awards have 4 consistent skill areas:

  1. Rally: Learning and developing rallying skills
  2. Serve: Learning and developing serving skills
  3. Come to the net: Learning and developing movement
    forwards and volleying
  4. Score and Compete: Learning the rules, how to score,
    how to compete and fair play

ANNUAL JUNIOR TOURNAMENT

In July the club runs an internal Junior Tournament which is open to all of the Junior members to enter.

It consists of a round robin draw , semi finals and final.

Each child receives a medal for taking part and the Winner & Runner Up receive trophies.

THE WEEKLY FREE PLAY SCHEDULE

Juniors can use any free courts up to 6pm Monday – Friday

Juniors have access to all courts on a Friday evening

Juniors have priority use of courts 1,3, 4 & 7 on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm
If the courts are not being used for league matches or tournaments, the

Juniors can use the courts on a Sunday afternoon when the club is usually quiet.

* No pre booking of courts unless for league matches or tournaments is allowed.

FRIDAY NIGHT IS JUNIOR SOCIAL NIGHT

Junior night is the one day of the week that juniors have sole use of the courts and club house.

It is very much a social night where families can come to the club and relax.

The children enjoy a 45 minute session on court with the coaches at a cost of £4 per week.

Sessions are at the following times:

  • Mini Red – 4.30pm – 5.15pm
  • Mini Orange – 5.30pm – 6.30pm
  • Mini Green – 5.30pm – 6.30pm
  • Full Ball – 5.30pm – 6.30pm

The bar is open and quite often whole families come to the club. It is a great environment for friends and family to spend the evening whilst the children enjoy the social side of meeting up and playing with their friends.

Often these evenings are themed including, Christmas, Easter, Halloween, Pancake Evening etc.

MINI TENNIS – MUNCHKINS

What age is Rocky’s Munchkins aimed at?
3 to 4 year olds.

These pre-school sessions are not only a great introduction to tennis for children, but also teaches them fundamental hand-eye co-ordination, flexibility, balance and ball skills. Basic technical training and footwork will improve your child’s sporting skills through fun games.

MINI TENNIS – RED

What age is Mini Tennis Red aimed at?
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 & under.

Which ball is used?
A foam or felt ball is used which is 75% slower than a yellow ball.

What size court is red ball played on?
A court with dimensions of 11m x 5.5m or 12m x 6m. It’s fine to use badminton court lines.

What height is the net?
The net is at a height of 80cm (in the middle).

Which racket is best to use?
A shorter racket of 43cm – 58 cm (17” – 23”) is recommended depending on the size and strength of the player.

MINI TENNIS – ORANGE

What age is Mini Tennis Orange aimed at?
Mini Tennis Orange is for players aged 8 and 9.

Which ball is used?
An orange ball is used which is 50% slower than a yellow ball, giving players better control at this important stage of development.

What size court is Mini Tennis Orange played on?
Mini Tennis Orange is played on a 18m x 6.5m court.

What height is the net?
80cm at the middle of the net.

Which racket is best to use?
A racket of 58cm – 63 cm (23” – 25”) should be used depending on the size and strength of the player.

MINI TENNIS – GREEN

What age is Mini Tennis Green aimed at?
Mini Tennis Green is for players aged 9 & 10.

Which ball is used?
A green ball is used, which is 25% slower than a yellow ball.

What size court is Mini Tennis Green played on?
Mini Tennis Green is played on a normal size court. Doubles matches should also be played on a normal size court with singles sticks in place (if available).

What height is the net?
The net is at full height.

Which racket is best to use?
A bigger racket of 63cm – 66cm (25” – 26”) should be used but not compulsory.

FULL BALL : JUNIORS

What age is Full Ball Tennis aimed at?
11 +

Which ball is used?
Full yellow ball

What size court is Full Ball played on?
A normal size court. Doubles matches should also be played on a normal size court with singles sticks in place (if available).

What height is the net?
The net is at full height.

Which racket is best to use?
